Rachel's Birthday present
This is the platter I made for Rachel's birthday (my co-worker), it's a 12" round. There is a black base (hard to see with the dark background. The design is done with glass bits and the edge design is slices of a pattern bar. She really liked her present, she bakes a lot so can use this as a serving dish.
I'm excited because I finally have a firing schedule for pieces like this that allows two large pieces of glass to fuse with no bumps or bubbles within the glass. This is very exciting to me, it's been a challenge to get the glass this smooth, it took a 12 hour kiln cycle just to get the pieces to fuse solid, then another long cycle to slump into the shape of a platter. The results are worth the time to me.

Looks great! We still use our natural tile nature coasters you made us long ago.
